Future World 2026 recap: Thank you for shaping the future of student readiness!

More than 200 educators, district leaders, counselors, workforce partners, and education innovators from over 30 states gathered from July 22–24 in Nashville for Future World 2026: Xello’s inaugural national conference dedicated to shaping the future of student readiness.

Created for the people leading college and career readiness every day, Future World addressed one important question: How can we better prepare every student for what’s next?

Over three inspiring days, attendees learned from peers, challenged ideas, built new connections, and left with practical strategies they can bring back to their schools and districts. Most importantly, they became part of a growing community united by a shared commitment to helping every student build a meaningful future.

Bringing together the readiness community

Future World was built on the belief that preparing students for life after high school takes more than one organization or one perspective. It requires collaboration across education, workforce, higher education, and community partners.

Throughout the conference, conversations extended beyond the session rooms as educators shared challenges, celebrated successes, and exchanged ideas with peers facing many of the same opportunities in their own districts. Whether attendees were meeting someone new over coffee or continuing discussions after a breakout session, the spirit of collaboration was present throughout the event.

The conference also kicked off with an exclusive half-day Leadership Experience, facilitated by Shira Woolf Cohen, Founder and CEO of Innovageous. Designed for education leaders and organizations, the interactive workshop encouraged thoughtful conversations around leadership, systems thinking, and building sustainable readiness initiatives that create lasting impact.

Three days of learning and inspiration

Future World 2026 featured two keynote sessions, a cross-sector fireside chat, a recent graduate panel discussion, and more than 50 breakout sessions led by educators and thought leaders from across the country.

The conference officially opened on July 23 with a keynote from Richard Culatta—innovator, tech futurist, author, and CEO of ISTE+ASCD. Culatta challenged attendees to think differently about the future of learning and the role educators play in preparing students for a rapidly changing world.

The day concluded with the fireside chat, “Preparing Students for the Future of Work,” facilitated by Dr. Kiesha King. Bringing together leaders from the education-to-workforce ecosystem to explore how stronger cross-sector partnerships can help ensure students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they’ll need to thrive after graduation.

Throughout the conference, attendees engaged with timely topics shaping the future of college and career readiness, including postsecondary pathway planning, creating districtwide accountability, bridging workforce skills gaps, successful readiness frameworks, and advising students in the age of AI.

The conference welcomed an incredible lineup of presenters representing organizations including the School District of Philadelphia, San Diego Unified School District, Tuscaloosa City Schools, the University of Colorado Boulder, Brown Girls Who Counsel, the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and so many more. Together, they shared practical strategies, innovative programs, and real-world lessons that attendees could adapt within their own schools and districts.

One of the conference highlights was the recent graduate panel, moderated by Andrea Markham and Kelly Norstrom of Tuscaloosa City Schools. The discussion gave attendees the opportunity to hear directly from recent graduates as they reflected on their postsecondary journeys, the decisions that shaped their paths, and the experiences that helped prepare them for life after high school. Their candid stories served as a powerful reminder that every readiness initiative ultimately comes back to supporting students.

It was the beginning of a community dedicated to shaping the future of student readiness.

While Future World 2026 has come to a close, this is only the beginning. The momentum created in Nashville will continue long after the final session, and we can’t wait to bring this growing community back together for Future World 2027.
